Adalat (G)

ADALAT(Nifedipine) is a dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker. Its main uses are in angina pectoris (especially Prinzmetal's angina) and hypertension, although a large number of other uses have recently been found for this agent, such as Raynaud's phenomenon, premature labor, and painful spasms of the esophagus in cancer and tetanus patients. It is also commonly used for the small subset of pulmonary hypertension patients whose symptoms respond to calcium channel.


Before Using :

 

Some medical conditions may interact with Nifedipine. Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you have any medical conditions, especially if any of the following apply to you:

 

  • if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding
  • if you are taking any prescription or nonprescription medicine, herbal preparation, or dietary supplement
  • if you have allergies to medicines, foods, or other substances
  • if you have heart valve problems, heart failure, heart shock, heart disease, had a heart attack, swelling of the hands or feet, a slow heart rate, low blood pressure, or fluid in your lungs
  • if you have recently had or will be having surgery, or if you have recently stopped taking a beta-blocker (eg, propranolol)


How To Use :

Use Nifedipine as directed by your doctor. Check the label on the medicine for exact dosing instructions.

 

  • Take Nifedipine by mouth with or without food.
  • Do not eat grapefruit or drink grapefruit juice while you use Nifedipine.
  • Swallow Nifedipine whole. Do not break, crush, or chew before swallowing.

 

 

Important Safety Information:

 

  • Nifedipine may cause dizziness or lightheadedness. These effects may be worse if you take it with alcohol or certain medicines. Use Nifedipine with caution. Do not drive or perform other possibly unsafe tasks until you know how you react to it.
  • Proper dental care is important while you are taking Nifedipine. Brush and floss your teeth and visit the dentist regularly.
  • Use Nifedipine with caution in the ELDERLY; they may be more sensitive to its effects.
  • PREGNANCY and BREAST-FEEDING: If you become pregnant, contact your doctor. You will need to discuss the benefits and risks of using Nifedipine while you are pregnant. It is not known if Nifedipine is found in breast milk. If you are or will be breast-feeding while you use Nifedipine , check with your doctor. Discuss any possible risks to your baby.

 

Shelf Life:

  • The expiry date is mentioned on each blister. It is different for different batches. The shelf life is 2 years from the date of manufacture and would differ from batch to batch depending on when they were manufactured.

 

Side Effects :

All medicines may cause side effects, but many people have no, or minor, side effects. Check with your doctor if any of these most COMMON side effects persist or become bothersome:

Constipation; dizziness; flushing; giddiness; headache; heat sensation; heartburn; lightheadedness; nausea; weakness.

Seek medical attention right away if any of these SEVERE side effects occur:

Severe allergic reactions (rash; hives; itching; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue); irregular pulse; shortness of breath; swelling of the feet or hands; tender, bleeding, or swollen gums.

 

Used For:

Treating certain kinds of angina (chest pain). It may also be used for other conditions as determined by your doctor.

 

 



Adalat (G)

Lasix

Take Lasex orally. Follow your doctor’s instructions. Don’t take more or less than your doctor prescribed. Drink water while taking pills. Take Lasix with food or milk if it upsets your stomach. Take Lasix at regular intervals. Do not take Lasix at a time when it will cause you problems.

 

Lasix is a diuretic tablets. It increases the amount of urine passed, this causes the body to lose water and salt. Furosemide is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). It also reduces the swelling and water retention caused by liver, heart, or kidney disease.

  • stomach upset, pain, or cramps

  • tingling or numbness in the hands or feet
  • irregular heartbeat

    Minipress

    Some medical conditions may interact with Minipress . Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you have any medical conditions, especially if any of the following apply to you:

     

    • if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding.

    • if you are taking any prescription or nonprescription medicine, herbal preparation, or dietary supplement.
    • if you have allergies to medicines, foods, or other substances
    • if you have chest pain, heart disease, narcolepsy, or kidney problems
    • if you will be having eye surgery


    How To Use :

    Use Minipress as directed by your doctor. Check the label on the medicine for exact dosing instructions.

     

    • Take Minipress by mouth with or without food.
    • If you miss a dose of Minipress , take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.

    Safety Information:


    • Minipress may cause dizziness, lightheadedness, or fainting after the first dose. Take the first dose at bedtime. If you get up during the night, sit up and stand slowly. Continue to sit up and stand slowly while you are taking Minipress .
    • Minipress may cause dizziness, drowsiness, lightheadedness, or blurred vision. These effects may be worse if you take it with alcohol or certain medicines. Use Minipress with caution. Do not drive or perform other possibly unsafe tasks until you know how you react to it.
    • Minipress may cause dizziness, lightheadedness, or fainting; alcohol, hot weather, exercise, or fever may increase these effects. To prevent them, sit up or stand slowly, especially in the morning. Sit or lie down at the first sign of any of these effects.
    • Avoid engaging in any hazardous tasks for at least 24 hours after taking the first dose, missing several doses, increasing the dose, or taking other high blood pressure medications.
    • Before drinking alcohol, discuss it with your doctor.
    • Tell your doctor or dentist that you take Minipress before you receive any medical or dental care, emergency care, or surgery.
    • Patients who take medicine for high blood pressure often feel tired or run down for a few weeks after starting treatment. Be sure to take your medicine even if you may not feel "normal." Tell your doctor if you develop any new symptoms.
    • Minipress may interfere with certain lab tests, including tests for pheochromocytoma (an adrenal gland tumor). Be sure your doctor and lab personnel know you are taking Minipress .
    • Use Minipress with extreme caution in the ELDERLY; they may be more sensitive to its effects.
    • Minipress should not be used in CHILDREN; safety and effectiveness in children have not been confirmed.
